Me myself im an 80's baby. I was born and raised in Texas. I came up on west coast gangsta rap cause thats what was goin on when i was a teenager. Maybe thats why i think this new sound is "bubblegum" cause i came up listening to cats like Dr. Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Eazy-E & 2Pac. Even tho they were thugs i wanted to be just like them. I didnt really get in too much on that old school NY hiphop like Run DMC and The Beastie Boys cause my lil snot nose was too busy watching cartoons like G.I.JOE & HE-MAN on the tv. I do remember my older brother bumpin that shit on the radio and in his car. I also remember him takin me to the theatre with him to watch break dancing movies like "Breakin' & Flashdance". So i guess you can say i was raised on HipHop? But anyway.... When the westcoast hype died down i jump on the eastcoast train and started listening to niggaz like The WU-TANG, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z and of course Biggie. Then when that died down and it was The South's turn. I was excited when the South took over cause i felt that shit deep. Music from UGK, Master P, 8Ball & MJG were heartfelt to me. Finally niggaz were talkin about shit that was going on in my backyard. I LOVED IT!!! ...I got love for all my dirty south niggaz keepin the south hot. But i still think Young Money is garbage. I do have luv for Lil Wayne cause i know what my nigga is capable of. I seen that nigga grow as an artist right before my eyes. The Hotboys was one of my favorite groups ever!! I played that Guerrilla Warfare til the chrome pilled off the disc! Then i went and bought it again!! That was way back when a nigga had to buy the cd straight out the store baby! Nowadays you kids are spoiled downloading albums off the internet. Thats why i think "the game" is all fucked up cause theres no luv in it no more. Artists are'nt puttin out quality music cause they know their shit will leak into the internet. Now rappers too busy trying to run their business's with clothin lines and vitamin water... lol! ...I think i came up in a good era when HipHop was live and well. And im thankful for that.
