See this probably where my maturity in rap shows. Ight In the sense that i am not 25 and shit i cant consider myself an 80's baby cause im only 20. But big daddy kane and all of those niggas where hood before the deal. LL did not start out rappin about girls, he started out hangin out with drug dealers like az, kane, alpo, mitch, ritch porter, the real 50 cent all of them niggas, but he was freestylin thats how he got a name for himself. He showed up to a scouting for def jam and got signed like in the movie. So when those " old rappers " who were lightin "L's" (el producto) and dutches before we were dont be saying that they are trying to be gangsta they are just puttin rap where they think it needs to be.
