The Source Cleans Up Its "Image" With New Deal

The new management at The Source Magazine is wasting no time at mending relationships that were left hanging by the publication's former executives. Image Entertainment and the self-proclaimed "hip-hop bible" have settled existing litigations and are recommencing their business dealings with a new deal.

As SOHH.com previously reported, The Source founder Dave Mays and longtime president/rapper Raymond "Benzino" Scott were fired and replaced by president/CEO Jeremy Miller.

Under the new agreement, Image Entertainment will have exclusive rights to all of The Source's audio and video projects. Hip Hop Hits Volume 11 from the Source's popular Hip Hop Hits series will be the first project released in the fall. The Source will help in selecting hit singles and co- producing the upcoming compilation and future installments from the "Hip Hop Hits" series.

"We were extremely excited to meet The Source's new management team," said Image Music Group Vice President George Steele via a statement. "They have been very professional and really understand the business and the need to forge ahead together. The Hip Hop Hits series in particular, has been wildly successful for us, and we're glad to be able to continue working with The Source on this and other projects."

The Source and its website will both serve as a platform for advertising future CDs and DVDs it releases with Image.

"I know I speak for everyone at The Source when I say we are thrilled to resume our strong relationship with Image Entertainment," said The Source President and CEO Miller. "We have a history of success together, and our content and brand combined with their deep distribution channels and unsurpassed knowledge of retail is truly a winning combination."
